Cosmetic Dentistry Auckland

First impressions are often the most important, and your smile is so important in conveying this.

At Metro Dental Care we are proud to offer Cosmetic Dentistry which includes crowns, bridges and veneers to improve your smile.

We use a variety of modern techniques to help give you back your smile and the confidence it brings. Existing silver or black fillings can be removed and replaced with natural "tooth-coloured" materials. Broken down teeth can be restored with "tooth-coloured" fillings. Missing teeth can be replaced with bridges.

Dr Patel is an active member of the New Zealand Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and will discuss the options available to you and the benefits of each option. We will guide and help you find the solution that best suits you.

Veneers

A veneer is a restoration that is as thin as a fingernail that is bonded to the tooth. It improves look of the tooth and this type of restoration is very conservative.

There are two types of veneers, Porcelain Veneers which are the best option for strength and durability and Composite Veneers which are not as strong but cost effective.

Crowns & Bridgework

Crowns and bridges are a long term investment and give you a strong healthy foundation for biting and chewing.

Types of Crowns

Porcelain Fused to Metal Crowns
Have a metal alloy lining the inside of the crown to which porcelain has been fused to and colour matched.

Ceramic Crowns
These are metal-free crowns these are as strong and durable as the PFM crowns and have no metal components and retain their transparent natural tooth colour.

Gold Crowns

Types of Bridges

Porcelain Bridge
These use two or more teeth as support. It is made of porcelain fused to metal lining or ceramic only. The crowns are joined together by the missing teeth and will be colour matched.

Cantilever Bridge
These involve a false tooth cantilevering off an adjacent tooth.

Maryland Bridge
This is used to replace a single tooth with minimal preparation of the teeth. The replacement tooth may have metal wings which are attached to the adjacent teeth.

Dental Implants

Implants are used to replace the roots of a missing tooth, or an entire jaw of missing teeth. After an implant is placed into the jawbone, it is usually allowed to heal for up to 6 months.

After healing, the implant is ready for restoration. Impressions of the mouth are taken and, models are made for the restorations. Once the post has been attached to the implant and secured into place, the restoration can be completed. A crown is made in the shape and colour of the natural tooth and attached to the post.
